ZERA appoints new CEO
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has appointed Edington Mazambani as the new Chief Executive Officer effective 16 September 2020.
Mr. Mazambani has been acting CEO since 2018 following the appointment of Dr. Gloria Magombo as Permanent Secretary for Energy and Power Development.
Announcing the appointment, ZERA Board Chairperson, Dr. Esther Khosa said Mr Mazambani demonstrated a high level of leadership, gravitas and acumen in energy related issues during his acting capacity.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Mr Mazambani for a job well done during the time he was serving as the acting CEO. It was a tough period”, said Dr. Khosa.
Mr. Mazambani’s appointment was approved by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, in terms of the section17 (2) of the Public Entities and Corporate Governance Act Chapter 10:31.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mazambani was ZERA’s Finance and Administration Director since 2012.
Mr Mazambani served in different capacities of accounting and auditing firms, having worked for various companies both in Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He gained vast and valuable experience in the manufacturing, construction, telecommunications, mining and engineering sectors.
Mr Mazambani is a qualified and experienced Chartered Accountant having completed his articles with Deloitte and Touché.
He also graduated with Bachelor of Accounting Honours degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a B. Compt (Hon) degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
He is an avid farmer specializing in livestock, maize and tobacco production.
