Precautionary measures at service stations

ZERA has issued precautionary measures at service stations aimed at protecting consumers and fuel sector staff in light of Covid-19.
The measures include supplying personal protective equipment to all service stations forecourt attendants, wiping to disinfect POS machines after every transaction and to ensure all equipment is sanitised before use.
Zimbabwe has recorded cases of coronavirus infections and the public is urged to take responsibility for themselves, stakeholders and communities.
Corona virus is transmitted by respiratory droplets from an infected person taken in directly by an uninfected person or indirectly by touching contaminated surfaces.
As a contact disease, maintenance of social distance and hygiene practices have been cited as the best measures to break the transmission of coronavirus.
Service stations and forecourts are areas of busy human interaction exposing both workers and clients to the risks of infection.
The measures taken by ZERA will however go a long way in mitigating coronavirus transmission within forecourts.
