The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has reviewed the elctricity tariff in line with economic developments in the country. The new tariff effective 3 October 2019 stands at ZWL162.16c/kWh.
In making its decision, the ZERA board chair, Dr. E. Khosa said the sector should expect a significantly improved electricity supply position from Zimbabwe Power Company as the company can procure enough coal stocks, reduced loadshedding hours and improved realibility of supply from the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution company as it is able to import elecricity from the Southern African Power Pool, more concerted energy efficiency, increased responsibility towards paying electricity bills by all consumer groups and recovery of revenue owed to ZETDC by various customer groups.
The tariff detrmination was made following wide consultations with farmers, industry, commerce and domestic energy consumers.
